Rubber match!
We’ve got a rubber match! The Oakland A’s and Texas Rangers split the first two games of their weekend series, and now the third and final contest will determine the winner.
For the A’s, Sean Manaea will look to bounce back from a pair of tough outings. Last time he was knocked out in the 2nd inning by the Cleveland Indians, and the time before that he allowed five runs after being drilled in the leg by a 115 mph liner. He faced the Rangers once in July, finishing with five innings and four runs, including homers by Nathaniel Lowe (in the lineup today) and Joey Gallo (later traded to the Yankees).
Meanwhile, Oakland has seen Texas starter Kolby Allard three times already, He’s gone exactly six innings in each appearance, and in each instance he let through 3-4 runs. Along the way he served up six homers, including two by Matt Olson and one by Sean Murphy, and also two by Jed Lowrie (not in lineup today) and one by Frank Schwindel (now on the Cubs where he’s crushing the ball).
