Logan Webb vs. Chi Chi González
Happy Logan Webb day, everyone!
The San Francisco Giants take on the Colorado Rockies again tonight in game two of this three game series.
Taking the mound for the Giants will of course be Logan Webb, who enters tonight’s game with a 2.56 ERA, 2.90 FIP, with 121 strikeouts to 30 walks in 112 innings pitched. Webb has been absolutely superb this season, having not allwoed more than two runs in a game since May 5th. His last start was against the Milwaukee Brewers last Thursday, in which he allowed four hits, one run, one walk, striking out 10 in seven innings pitched, one of his best starts to date.
He’ll be facing off against the Rockies’ right hander Chi Chi González, who enters tonight’s game with a 6.13 ERA, 5.46 FIP, with 55 strikeouts to 28 walks in 98.1 innings pitched. González has been starting, mostly, but has made a few appearances out of the bullpen as well. His last start was against the Atlanta Braves in a 6-5 loss, in which González allowed four hits, three runs, four walks, striking out one in 3.2 innings.
Hopefully the Giants can take advantage early and get Webb some run support before he gets devoured by the Coors Field demons. You’d like to see him maintain his streak of quality starts, but you just never know in Colorado.
That said, the Giants have all of their big bats in the lineup except for Kris Bryant, so I like their chances.
