Crawford is out with an oblique strain, and Jason Vosler has been recalled.
The San Francisco Giants just can’t seem to get fully healthy. Right as the team prepares to welcome back one of their two All-Star position players in Buster Posey, the other is hitting the Injured List. The Giants placed shortstop Brandon Crawford on the 10-day IL on Monday, due to an oblique strain suffered during the weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Taking Crawford’s spot on the roster is Jason Vosler, who has been recalled from AAA Sacramento. The Giants also made a few other moves on the day, activating Posey and right-handed pitcher Kevin Gausman, and optioning catcher Chadwick Tromp and left-handed pitcher Caleb Baragar.
Brandon Crawford goes on the IL with a mild oblique strain, he’s expected to miss 10-14 days. Got hurt in final at-bat yesterday. Jason Vosler was recalled, and manager Gabe Kapler said Thairo Estrada will be primary SS while Crawford is out.

Hopefully Crawford is able to return quickly and at full health, as no one else on the Giants has looked comfortable handling defensive duties at shortstop. It will be fun to see Thairo Estrada get a chance to play a lot, but losing an All-Star while in the middle of a playoff race is never a good thing.
As for Vosler, he returns yet again, and is hitting .211/.297/.439 in 64 plate appearances. He likely got the call up over Mauricio Dubón because the Giants have no healthy left-handed hitting infielders left of first base.
