AA Richmond (43-43)
Richmond Flying Squirrels lost to the Bowie Baysox (Orioles) 8-4
Box score
It was not a disciplined offensive day for the Flying Squirrels, as they struck out 14 times while drawing just 1 walk. The top of the order was especially rough, as the first 4 batters combined to hit 2-18 with 10 strikeouts, though admittedly one of those hits was a home run by first baseman Frankie Tostado.
Right fielder Diego Rincones (No. 37 CPL) was the offensive star, hitting 2-3 with a home run and a double to raise his OPS to .875. He’s been very strong since his early July promotion, despite being just 22 in a pitcher-friendly league.

It was not pitcher friendly to the Flying Squirrels on Wednesday, though, as all of their pitchers got tagged pretty significantly.
And it was another rough day for shortstop Will Wilson (No. 10 CPL), who went 1-5 with 3 strikeouts, lowering his OPS to .537 while giving him 49 strikeouts in 133 plate appearances.
High-A Eugene (49-37)
Eugene Emeralds lost to the Hillsboro Hops (Diamondbacks) 10-6
Box score
The Emeralds did some pretty nice things on offense, with two-thirds of the lineup registering an extra-base hit. Right fielder Armani Smith (No. 44 CPL) was the star, hitting 2-4 with a home run and a walk to raise his OPS to .827. He’s been scorching hot lately, rocking a .971 OPS in August.
Designated hitter Sean Roby (No. 32 CPL) also contributed a walk and a home run, and is also sporting a blistering August OPS, with his mark sitting at 1.263. That’s a nice rebound after Roby had a very rough July (.638 OPS).
Shortstop Marco Luciano (No. 1 CPL) went 1-3 with a triple and a walk as he tries to find his High-A footing. More days like that help, though he also had an error.
Eugene’s pitching struggled in a big way, starting with RHP Aaron Phillips, who allowed 8 baserunners and 5 earned runs in 4 innings. RHP Austin Reich had the rare off day, giving up 2 earned runs in 1.2 innings.
Low-A San Jose (55-31)
San Jose Giants beat the Modesto Nuts (Mariners) 6-2
Box score
It was a pretty solid offensive day for the Baby Giants who had 9 hits and 5 walks, and struck out just 6 times. That’s a good equation.
Second baseman Jimmy Glowenke (No. 34 CPL) had a big day, hitting 2-5 with the team’s only home run, raising his OPS to .767.

First baseman Luis Toribio (No. 12 CPL) also impressed, drawing 2 walks and bopping a single to raise his OPS to .776.
In all, 7 of the team’s 9 batters recorded a hit, including third baseman Yorlis Rodriguez, who doubled for his first hit since being promoted from the Arizona Complex League.
RHP Prelander Berroa struck out 7 in 4.1 innings, but also allowed 7 baserunners (just 1 earned run though). He’s up to 99 strikeouts in 69.2 innings this season.
The bullpen was very strong, and RHP Clay Helvey struck out 2 in a perfect inning to give him 59 strikeouts in 37.2 innings.

AA Frankie Tostado (11)
AA Diego Rincones (5)
High-A Sean Roby (13)
