A round up of the San Francisco Giants Minor League affiliates.
With three games on Monday in the book, the season is now over for five of the San Francisco Giants eight affiliates. The only teams still playing are AAA Sacramento, which has a few games left, as well as High-A Eugene and Low-A San Jose, who kick off their postseasons tonight.
Let’s jump in.

AAA Sacramento (51-65)
Sacramento River Cats lost to the Las Vegas Aviators (A’s) 5-2
Box score
A rather feckless offensive game for the River Cats, who had just 6 hits on the day, though they drew 6 walks to 8 strikeouts. But at this point in the season you could make the case that the most important players on the farm are the ones who might be back on the Major League roster for the final games or for the postseason. So it bodes well that Sacramento’s best player was rehabbing left fielder Alex Dickerson, who hit 2-3 with a walk and a double, the team’s only extra-base hit.
Reaching base twice, via a single and a walk, were catcher Joey Bart (No. 2 CPL) and center fielder Braden Bishop, raising their OPS’ to .837 and .914, respectively. Bishop also stole a base.

It was a bit of an odd performance for RHP Sean Hjelle (No. 11 CPL), who continues to struggle in AAA. Hjelle made it through 6 innings and allowed 7 hits, 3 walks, and 5 runs, but 4 of those runs were unearned. So the performance, while not good, very much helped lower his ERA, which is now at 5.44. Hjelle struck out just 3 batters, and that’s a rather worrying trend with him: in 43 AAA innings he has just 26 strikeouts to 23 walks.
RHPs Jake Jewell, Trevor Gott, and Silvino Bracho combined for 3 scoreless bullpen innings, allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk.
DSL Orange (21-24)
DSL Giants Orange beat the D-backs2 3-1
Box score
The Giants Orange squad ended their season on a high note, despite striking out 12 times and drawing just 1 walk. Right fielder Samuel Reyes (18, 2019 J2) was the only hitter to reach base twice, hitting 2-4 to end his season with an .822 OPS.
But 4 of the team’s 7 hits were doubles, with one each for second baseman Samuel Rodriguez (17, 2020 J2), who has a .591 OPS; first baseman Jhosward Camacho (17, 2020 J2), who has a .617 OPS; third baseman Derwin Laya (18, 2020 J2), who has a .794 OPS; and catcher Freddy Tremaria (18, 2019 J2), who has a .460 OPS.
RHP Miguel Mora (19, 2019 J2) was a little wild, with 3 walks and 2 hit batters in 4 innings, but he allowed just 2 hits and 1 earned run, lowering his ERA to 3.26. LHP Carlos Lopez (19, 2019 J2) was perfect in 3 innings of relief, with 3 strikeouts, ending his season with a 3.86 ERA and 25 strikeouts to 11 walks in 18.2 innings.
DSL Black (19-24)
DSL Giants Black lost to the Mets2 3-2 (7 innings)
Box score
A very unenthusiastic end to the season for the Giants Black team. On offense, they had just 4 hits and a single walk, with no hitter reaching base twice. A double by shortstop Yeison Lemos (19, 2019 J2) was the offensive highlight of the day, and Lemos ends his year with a .722 OPS.
LHP Luis Castillo (19, 2018 J2), who has had a rough year, ended the season on a high note with 2.1 perfect innings out of the bullpen, striking out 2.
