Plus, Keaton Winn.
Friday wasn’t a good day for the San Francisco Giants. But they did get some encouraging news that perhaps some reinforcements are on the way. Before their 4-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Giants released some encouraging injury updates for three players who could factor into the second-half plans.
Most notably, first baseman Bryce Eldridge wrapped up his rehab stint in the Arizona Complex League and returned to AAA Sacramento. He was joined there by first baseman/outfielder Jerar Encarnación, who recently began a rehab stint in Arizona, and moved it to Sacramento with the second half of the AAA season getting underway.
Both players were not just in the lineup, but also in the field for Sacramento on Friday night, with Eldridge manning first base and Encarnación in right field. Eldridge is trying to force the issue and make it to the Majors this year, while Encarnación is out of options, and thus will have to be back in San Francisco soon.
They weren’t the only players getting healthy. An oft-forgot about part of the organization’s pitching depth returned to Sacramento as well, as right-hander Keaton Winn wrapped up a rehab assignment and headed back to AAA. Winn has been sidelined for three months, so great to see him back on the mound.
