And his teammate Kyle Harrison was named Pitcher of the Year.
The San Francisco Giants beating the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLDS was the main reason for celebration on Friday, but there were also some pretty big accomplishments in the Minor Leagues, if you want to start thinking about future Giants teams while watching the 107-win one.
It was announced on Friday that Giants prospect Luis Matos, an outfielder for the San Jose Giants, was named the Low-A West Most Valuable Player. His teammate, left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison, was named Pitcher of the Year.
Luis Matos named Low-A West Most Valuable Player today. Matos becomes the first ever San Jose Giant to win a league MVP award.
Kyle Harrison also honored as the Low-A West Pitcher of the Year.
Marco Luciano, Ryan Murphy & Randy Rodriguez all named postseason All-Stars as well.

Matos and Harrison were considered top-10 prospects in the system entering the 2021 season, but will almost surely be considered top-five prospects entering 2022 after the sensational seasons they put forth.
Matos, who doesn’t turn 20 until late January, hit .313/.358/.494, good for a 121 wRC+. He had just a 12.4% strikeout rate, while hitting 15 home runs. Harrison, who turned 20 less than two months ago, had a 3.19 ERA and 3.48 FIP, with 157 strikeouts to 52 walks in 98.2 innings.
Congrats to both. The future is bright.
As is the present.
