Sacramento’s NBA G League affiliate tips off their season on Nov. 5.
Today the Stockton Kings announced their 2021-22 schedule. The team was one of few who opted out of the 2021 G League bubble played in Orlando Florida this past February, so Stockton will be taking the court again for the first time since early 2020, pre-pandemic.
Stockton will play 48 regular season games spanning from Nov. 5 to April 2. The Kings will open up their season with a back-to-back vs. their local rivals, the Santa Cruz Warriors, followed by matchups with the Birmingham Squadron, the first-year G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans.
The team will be led by first year head coach Bobby Jackson, who left Luke Walton’s coaching staff earlier this summer and has already seen success when steering the 2021 Summer League Kings to a victory in Las Vegas.
Headlining the Stockton Kings roster are Kings’ two-way players Neemias Queta and Summer League Championship game MVP Louis King. Both players were dominate in their runs at the California Classic and in the Vegas tourney.
Stockton will be entering its third season in the G League space, rebranding following the teams move from Reno in the spring of 2018. Kings assistant coach Rico Hines was a strong component of the Reno Bighorns coaching staff, and he made the leap to join Luke Walton’s crew in Sacramento following the team’s move to Stockton.
Good things are to come in the city of Stockton, providing the 209 with quality development for its young players while continuing to provide opportunity to athletes looking to make their splash in the NBA this season.
