D’Angelo Russell said that the California weather played a role in his decision to choose to sign with the Golden State Warriors over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“I thought the opportunity here was amazing … It was definitely something I was considering very strongly. But then when this opportunity came, the weather is way better, so that helped me … I did my first winter in New York and that was tough. So to get the opportunity to go somewhere where it’s warm again, I think that played a major part in my plan,” admitted Russell.
Russell then added that his close friend Karl-Anthony Towns has to actively take a leadership role on the Wolves.
“He has to lead vocally on and off the court. Kind of attack that leadership role versus kind of coasting through. He’s got a taste of the playoffs and it’s something he really wants to do and continue to do with the core group of guys they have here.”
