Donte DiVincenzo Signs With the Golden State Warriors

July 3, 2022 by Last Word On Pro Basketball Leave a Comment

Donte DiVincenzo signed with the Golden State Warriors Friday. The two sides agreed to a two-year contract worth $9.3 million, or $4.65 million per season. This contract ties him down through the 2023-24 season.

The Warri0rs Sign Donte DiVincenzo

Over his four year NBA career, DiVincenzo has played for the Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings. He has put up 9.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for his career. He was originally drafted in the first round, 17th overall of the 2018 NBA draft by the Bucks. Last season he scored 9.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game for the Sacramento Kings.

DiVincenzo likely signed with the defending champions for a chance to compete for a championship after ending last season in Sacramento. He will have plenty of competition for minutes and will have to prove he can make the most of his minutes.

What This Means For the Future

DiVincenzo should provide the Warriors with another wing that can shoot the ball, perhaps a cheaper Otto Porter Jr. replacement. DiVincenzo is a decent floor spacer who shot 37 percent from three with the Kings last season and can rebound and play make when needed. The former Villanova product still has time to develop as he is only 25, and has shown flashes of potential. For DiVincenzo to make an impact with the Warriors, he’ll need to continue to shoot the ball above average.

Depth is key here. The Warriors are the reigning champions, but have already suffered losses in free agency. With that being said, DiVincenzo is an excellent piece to have coming off the bench. He’s shown flashes of brilliance before, so it’s safe to say he will continue to grow as a player alongside the veterans and stars already in Golden State. This move helps both the Warriors and the player.
