Steph Curry Admits He’s Studying Another Superstar Athlete

Stephen Curry is 33 years old. Some think the NBA superstar is just a few years away from retirement. Don’t tell that to Steph.

Curry will begin playing in his 13th NBA season later this year. To prepare, he’s studying one of sports’ greatest players: Tom Brady. Why Brady in particular? He’s played far longer than anyone could have predicted and continues to have great passion for football. Curry wants the same for himself on the hardwood.

The Warriors superstar told NBC Sports Bay Area this week that he’s had conversations with Brady this offseason. In doing so, Brady talked about how every two years he found a way to recommit himself to football, which has allowed him to play at such a high level for so long.

“Absolutely,” Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area this week. “I’ve actually talked to him, personally, about this. He’s at the point now where he can look back and talk about that with some authority and experience.

“But even he said, in the moment, when he was in his early-30s, mid-30s, late-30s, it was always, ‘I think I’ve still got two more years in me. Stay. Do everything I can to sustain yourself and stay physically and mentally sharp.’ And then you look up and you’re saying that again, saying it the next two years. And you’re saying it again.”

Tom Brady gave Stephen Curry some solid advice, but sometimes a player’s career is out of his or her hands. Injuries often play the biggest factor. Even Brady’s dealt with his fair share of injuries, but he somehow has always found a way to continue playing at a high level.

Curry, meanwhile, was one of the NBA’s best players last season, even without his trusty sidekick Klay Thompson beside him. The Splash Brothers are expected to reunite on the court this upcoming season, which could help alleviate much of the pressure on Curry’s shoulders.

Can Curry become the Brady on the basketball court? He’s planning on it.
