Warriors vs. Kings: Three takeaways from the Dubs’ blowout win

This one was over by half time.

Despite playing their third game in four nights, the Golden State Warriors looked fresh from the opening tip in their 137-106 win over the Sacramento Kings.

The Dubs swarmed the Kings on the defensive end, holding Sacramento to just 33.3% shooting in the first half and were up 68-48 at the break.

Stephen Curry led the offense once again. He had 23 points over the opening two quarters and finished with a team-high 30 points. Golden State got production up-and-down the lineup, with six players scoring in double figures.

The Dubs never trailed in this game, and with the victory, they improve to 4-3 on the season.

Here are three takeaways from the win against the Kings:

The strong start:

Even though they played their second game in as many nights, the Warriors came out like gangbusters against a rested Kings team. Golden State went on a 21-7 run to start the game and was up by 17 after the first quarter, and dominated Sacramento on the defensive end.

The Kings turned the ball over six times over the opening 12 minutes, which led to some easy transition buckets for the Warriors.

The condensed schedule will eventually take a toll on teams playing back-to-back nights, but you couldn’t tell Curry and co. were on the court Sunday evening.

Draymond Green is finding his form

The former Defensive Player of the Year only played 21 minutes in the blowout, but his stat line looked similar to what we saw from Draymond during the Dubs’ dominant run. Green finished with five points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals. His defense is his strength, but he showed flashes of being the facilitator we are used to seeing.

Green found James Wiseman and Kelly Oubre Jr. on separate plays that ended with baskets. You can see his vision and passing skills on full display during the two sequences:

Green will only get better as the season wears on. He missed a lot of training camp after testing positive for the coronavirus, which hindered his conditioning. As he gets more game action, his numbers will begin to improve.

Wiseman is going to be a problem in this league for a very long time

The rookie continues to impress early in his NBA career. Wiseman finished with 10 points, four rebounds and two blocks in just 17 minutes. Even though his numbers aren’t eye-popping, it’s the plays that he is making that are showcasing his potential.

Wiseman needs to improve his positioning on the defensive end, but he doesn’t take any plays off. Even though he gets called for a foul, watch how he stays with Marvin Bagley III on this defensive possession:

On the offensive end, the 19-year-old’s athletic ability is plain to see. He runs the floor like a guard, and his Inspector Gadget arms allow him to dunk any lobs that are thrown his way:

It’s going to be fun to see him continue to develop. With some more seasoning, Wiseman will quickly become one of the best big men in the NBA.
