Ziaire Williams is coming into his own as the Cardinal are getting hot
The Stanford Cardinal, winners of four straight, are red-hot as they approach conference play as the team is rounding into form. Freshman sensation Ziaire Williams has scored in double figures in each of the past three games but even if he didn’t reach that ‘double-digit plateau,’ Williams was a factor, recording eight defensive boards and 10 total rebounds against North Carolina A&T.
Williams has scored at least 10 points in five of seven contests this year, and save for their most recent outing against CSU Bakersfield, has cut down on the turnovers since the season opener.
As Williams heats up, the Cardinal have seemingly found their groove as a team as well. During their four-game winning streak, Stanford is dominating the paint. In fact, over the past four games, they’ve outscored their opponents in the paint by a combined margin of 164-86.
Also during that four-game win streak, the Cardinal have seen a whopping 79.4% of their points come from their starting five players on the court.
Stanford isn’t only playing good basketball overall, they’re also snapping negative streaks. By beating Arizona during this win streak, the Cardinal snapped a 20-game losing streak to the Wildcats.
As they’re set to begin a full-conference schedule of play with Oregon State on December 31, we can take a look how they’ve fared overall, through seven games, that includes that four-game winning streak:
