It was cut day within the NFL on Tuesday. The San Francisco 49ers, as a result, had to say goodbye to one of their veteran wide receivers.
The 49ers cut veteran wideout Travis Benjamin on Tuesday afternoon, according to NFL insider Josina Anderson. It’s not too big of a surprise. He didn’t make much of an impact during the preseason, and the 49ers are much more excited about some of their younger players.
The 49ers are very excited about their receiving unit this upcoming season. Brandon Aiyuk has shown flashes of superstar potential, Deebo Samuel is a versatile home-run hitter and even Mohamed Sanu looks to have a bounceback year. Most importantly, it looks like there’s still a chance Jalen Hurd and Jauan Jennings see the field.
Benjamin, meanwhile, shouldn’t be without a job for too long. He’s an experience veteran. It’s only a matter of time before he lands back on his feet.
Oh boy, another huge domino.
All the chips are in line for the 49ers to keep BOTH Jalen Hurd and Jauan Jennings on their 53 now https://t.co/uhC6fffAKa

The 49ers are truly one of the mystery teams within the NFL this season. They’re two years removed from running through the NFC before falling in the Super Bowl. Last year, injuries spoiled a potential revenge tour. What will 2021 bring?
Kyle Shanahan appears to have a two-quarterback plan in place. Jimmy Garoppolo will continue running the offense, but the 49ers plan to use Trey Lance in certain packages.
If Jimmy G plays like he did two years ago and Lance provides a spark in the rushing attack. the 49ers could be a Super Bowl threat.
