The 49ers’ offensive showing in the first half of the 2021 season was defined by inconsistency. Injuries plagued them at times, but overall the performances have ranged from great to lackluster to outright strange (shoutout to Brandon Aiyuk and Trey Sermon).
As a whole though, the unit hasn’t been terrible even if it has underachieved some.
We went through each position on offense and gave that group a grade based on its performance in the first eight games of the year. If the 49ers are going to make a playoff push, a year-end version of these grades will have to be dramatically improved:
