The NFL on Tuesday made their anticipated expansion to an 18-week season that’ll now include 17 games. Teams will alternate home and road games for their 17th contest, and they’ll face a team from the opposing conference that finished in the same place in the division the previous year. The division will rotate and be two years behind the normal divisional rotation, which means the 49ers will face the 2020 last place AFC North team in 2021 – the Cincinnati Bengals.
We don’t know the exact schedule yet. That won’t come out until later in April. We do know all of the 49ers’ opponents now though since the NFL has officially tacked on that extra game.
