After a 13-year NFL career, former Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Staley announced his retirement in 2020. But it appears that Staley has just found a new job in media.
On Thursday, NBC Sports Bay Area announced that Staley has joined their network as a pre- and postgame analyst. He will work with the network covering the San Francisco 49ers.
Staley will definitely be able to offer insight where this team is concerned. He played three seasons under current head coach Kyle Shanahan, as the other 10 under five of Shanahan’s predecessors.
It’s not the first time that Staley has been behind a microphone. He previously hosted his own show on the San Francisco 49ers’ website.

The San Francisco 49ers traded up to take Joe Staley in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He started every game he was healthy for but really came into his own under Jim Harbaugh in 2011.
Between 2011 and 2017, Staley made six Pro Bowls and was a three-time All-Pro selection.
By the time Staley was ready to call it quits, he had started 181 games in 13 years. He ranks 11th in franchise history for games played, and second for games played by an offensive tackle.
Good luck as an analyst, Joe. We’re certain we’ll be hearing from you soon.
