This will be an exciting season, and getting fresh blood at Niners Nation will make this year even more fun. More on the names as we finalize names, but you’ll like what we have in store for you.

In two Saturdays, we’ll have football.

Sherman expresses remorse for actions that led to arrest

“I am deeply remorseful for my actions on Tuesday night,” Sherman wrote in a statement. “I behaved in a manner I am not proud of. I have been dealing with some personal challenges over the last several months, but that is not an excuse for how I acted. The importance of mental and emotional health is extremely real and I vow to get the help I need.

“I appreciate all of the people who have reached out in support of me and my family, including our community here in Seattle. I am grateful to have such an amazing wife, family and support system to lean on during this time.”

Ashley Sherman, Richard’s wife, told police investigators that Sherman “does not remember anything about it the next day” whenever he has an episode such as the one he experienced this week, according to the police report.

Sherman faces five non-felony charges stemming from incidents that occurred early Wednesday morning.

9 Bold Predictions for the 2021 NFL Season

San Francisco 49ers Trade QB Jimmy Garoppolo to Washington Football Team

The Washington Football Team could replace Ryan Fitzpatrick, who turns 39 years old in November, with Garoppolo. They may not have a draft pick high enough to select a top prospect at the position in 2022.

The 49ers could dump a big contract, take a look at their potential quarterback of the future and receive compensation in return for a player who isn’t in their long-term plans. Meanwhile, the WFT would have a competent signal-caller who can help them win a wide-open division and remain a starter beyond 2021.

Lynch shares story of learning about his HOF enshrinement

It started off as a standard Sunday— mass with his family, his wife Linda’s family and a gathering the Lynch home to follow. For a player who relied on his instincts during his lengthy NFL career, there were clues that should have indicated to the retired safety that something was afoot.

“Looking back there were a few signs, Linda was acting a little strange, buying a bunch of new plants for our house when we were heading north for a bit,” Lynch said during a conference call via the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“Yes, I’m busy with my job, but the Niners have been great,” Lynch shared. “This is something that I’m going to enjoy. I’ve worked long and hard for it. It’s taken a while. I’ll work right to the Thursday where I take off (for Canton), and I thought about skipping and going in just for Sunday, but Kyle was very helpful there. ‘Man, you worked long and hard for this. You go enjoy the entire thing.’ So, that’s why you have a great team and people who will hold down the fort when I’m gone.”

49ers QB joins Griz legend to teach Montana high school QBs

Mornhinweg teamed up with former 49ers QB Jeff Garcia, whom he coached in San Francisco, to give 14 high school QBs a quarterback clinic they’ll never forget.

Mornhinweg and Garcia take the kids back and forth between the field and the classroom, helping them with technique on the field, but more importantly showing them the film and what to look for off of it.

“More than anything, if they want to be a good quarterback, it’s not just the physical skill, it’s the mental ability to grasp the game,” Garcia said. “How they process information, how they learn their offense, how they understand defense, how they attack a defense, their presnap, their postsnap, all those things that go into a short time frame, within seconds they need to be able to make a decision. An accurate decision. Then they need to have the physical ability to follow through with it, to make an accurate throw, to have great timing, to throw a receiver open. All those things, I’m hoping to be able to share with them today.”

49ers target cornerback in Draft Wire mock ahead of college football season

Our friends at the Draft Wire wrote up a pre-season two-round mockdraft to give us an idea of what the prospect landscape looks like going into the year. The 49ers don’t have a first-round choice, and don’t pick until No. 60 in the second round. With that pick they take Mississippi State cornerback Martin Emerson.

It’s easy to see CB topping the 49ers’ list of needs in next year’s draft, and Emerson is a good one going into his third college season. He’s listed with great size at 6-2, 195 pounds. In two seasons with the Bulldogs Emerson has played in 24 games with 16 starts, including all 11 last season. In those 24 games he posted 103 tackles, three tackles for loss, one interception and 12 pass breakups.

Receiver Ted Ginn Jr. retires after 14-year NFL career

Ted Ginn Jr. returned to Glenville High School on Friday to announce his NFL retirement.

The 36-year-old former Ohio State receiver and returner played for his father, Ted Ginn Sr., at Glenville before moving on to the Buckeyes and the NFL.

“I’ve dedicated my entire life to football until now,” Ginn said. “I’m going out in peace. … On my own terms, not forced out.”

Ginn spent 14 seasons in the NFL with Miami, San Francisco, Carolina, Arizona, New Orleans and Chicago. In 193 regular-season games, he had 412 receptions for 5,742 yards — averaging 13.9 yards a catch — and 33 touchdowns. He also returned four punts and three kickoffs for touchdowns.
