The San Francisco 49ers and star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk have officially entered staredown mode after Aiyuk formally requested a trade from the team yesterday. But by hook or by crook, Aiyuk is bound to get a new contract eventually – whether it’s the 49ers or one of 31 other teams remains to be seen.
So just how much money does Aiyuk stand to make in his new deal? According to Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac, Aiyuk’s production projects to a four-year deal worth upwards of $104 million with over $60 million guaranteed.
“#49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk projects toward a 4 year, $104M extension in our valuation system, including $66M practically guaranteed. At $26M+ per year, Aiyuk would slot in as the 8th highest average paid WR in football,” Ginnitti posted on X.
With numbers like that on the line, it’s easy to understand why Aiyuk doesn’t want to raise so much as a finger on the practice field for the 49ers until he gets the money safely deposited into his bank account.
Aiyuk had over 1,300 yards and seven touchdowns for the 49ers in 2023 and played a big role in both their regular season success and their playoff run.
Will the 49ers reach a new contract extension with Aiyuk, or will they wind up losing him?
