Fred Warner remains in the top-10 in DPOY odds
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reportered that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has a no-trade clause for the 2021 Legue Year. That means the 49ers can’t trade Garoppolo without his permission until March of 2022. We heard Kyle Shanahan’s comments, as he expects Jimmy to be the starter next season. Here’s the full language of Garoppolo’s contract.
It seems like there is no in-between here. Fans took Kyle’s words as a shoo-in that Garoppolo would be back or took the “what else is he supposed to say” route. The trade clause doesn’t matter much. If released in ‘21, Garoppolo won’t land a contract that nets him $26.9M and $27M in the next two years.
Shanahan was on KNBR Wednesday morning:
“I remember when I was young, Steve Young going 14-2, and all I’d hear is that the 49ers need a new QB. Nothing’s changed. People are going to question everybody. That’s the NFL, part of the media.”
This will be the last time we talk about Jimmy until another report comes out in a couple of days.
Separately, Fred Warner is still in the top-10 for Defensive Player of the Year odds.
I think it’s safe to say that 49ers LB Fred Warner is going to make the Pro Bowl. pic.twitter.com/F1kjfXcSg6

Despite the 49ers record, it’s great to see Warner still being appreciated as one of the best defenders in the NFL.
