There’s three days until the 2022 NFL Draft, which gives San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch three days to trade Deebo Samuel for compensation this year. Just don’t tell him that.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Lynch was asked about the team potentially trading their all-world wide receiver. Lynch made it clear that he has no intentions of letting Samuel go and “can’t envision” doing so.
“You just don’t let guys like that walk. I can’t envision a situation where we would,” Lynch said. “I’m confident we can find the solutions to work through whatever’s going on.”
But whether Lynch can “envision a situation” like that or not, it seems like Samuel has made up his mind already. His various public actions combined with his trade request are pretty good indicators of that.
John Lynch says Deebo Samuel is a game-changing talent for the #49ers and he couldn’t imagine trading Samuel.

2021 saw Deebo Samuel emerge as one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL. He had over 1,700 yards from scrimmage and 14 touchdowns as both a receiver and a runner. He earned Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors for his efforts.
Offers are reportedly already on the table if the 49ers are willing to listen. The New York Jets are reportedly ready to offer the No. 10 overall pick in the draft to bring him into the fold.
But if John Lynch and the 49ers brass are content to wait Deebo Samuel out, they can do that too.
With just over 72 hours away from the 2022 NFL Draft, we’ll learn Samuel’s fate soon enough.
