With the 2020-2021 season officially in the books, it’s time to look ahead to next year. And like the last offseason, it’s going to be a wild and likely virtual one for the NFL.
As of right now, the NFL is not planning on having a traditional NFL Combine in Indianapolis in late February/early March. Instead, players will meet with teams virtually and there is rumored to be a medical combine in April that could still be happening.
That means the next event on the NFL calendar isn’t until later this month with the franchise tag window opening up. With that in mind, here are some important key dates and info for the next several months of the offseason:
February 23-March 9: The window to apply franchise or transition tags
March 15-17: Legal negotiating window before free agency
March 17: Free agency and the new league year begin
April 29-May 1: The 2021 NFL Draft
It’s also worth noting that “Pro Days” will begin to take place in March and will go all the way through the middle of April. Many of these pro days will look different and will not be attended as heavily as we’ve seen over the past several years. However, they will be vital for NFL teams are they try to catch up without a scouting combine.
