Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr made it clear that he is all in on the prospect of adding Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams.
Adams is entering the final year of his current deal, and his future in Green Bay remains tied to the uncertainty surrounding quarterback Aaron Rodgers. This has led Carr to apply some pressure on a potential reunion with his former Fresno State teammate.
It is no secret that the Raiders have long been in the market for a bonafide No. 1 wideout to help lead the passing game. Reuniting Carr with a familiar face in Adams would certainly make for an ideal solution.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Packers will be able to secure their two most important pieces on offense. Regardless, this has not stopped Carr from upping the ante in his looming recruitment of Adams during an appearance on PFF’s The Cris Collinsworth Podcast:
“I said I’m gonna full-court press the guy when he’s a free agent. There’s no doubt. I’ll buy him a car. Whatever I gotta do. He’d fit in so well with our guys.”
There is no question that adding a pass-catcher of Adams’ caliber would provide a major boost to this receiving corps. While there remains plenty of speculation regarding how the situation in Green Bay will play out, it is clear that Carr is chomping at the bit to bring his former teammate to Las Vegas.
Should Adams hit the market, he would immediately become perhaps the top free agent available and will have plenty of suitors. Fortunately, the Raiders have good reason to be optimistic about their chances, thanks to the existing connections.
Even Adams himself admitted his excitement at the idea of being on the same team as Carr. After all, the two combined for 233 receptions, 3,031 yards and 38 touchdowns in two seasons during their time at Fresno State.
While fans can only marvel at how their numbers would be replicated with the Raiders, both Carr and Adams have a pivotal 2021 NFL season coming up.
