Jon Gruden adds another project to the roster
Jon Gruden doesn’t stay idle for long. He needs new toys.
On Friday, Gruden was given another quarterback project when the Las Vegas Raiders signed Kyle Sloter to a reserve/future contract. The Raiders been signing several players in the past couple of weeks, and Sloter will now be part of the Raiders’ offseason program with a strong chance to go to training camp. He is likely a candidate to be on the 2021 practice squad.
Sloter, 26, has already been on several NFL practice squads.
Sloter, out of Northern Colorado, signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He then went on to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears, where he participated on the practice squad for various stretches of the 2020 season.
He has never played in a regular-season NFL game.
Sloter is 6’5, 218 pounds. Now it’s Gruden’s turn to try to mold him into a quarterback, who, in a best-case scenario, can stick on a 53-man roster during the regular season.
