There’s yet another receiver landing in Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Raiders are adding veteran wide receiver Willie Snead, according to ESPN.

And in a non-trade moves today, the Raiders are signing former Ravens’ WR Willie Snead to a one-year contract, per his agent @DrewJRosenhaus.

And the Bears are signing back free-agent CB Artie Burns to a one-year deal, per @DrewJRosenhaus.

Here are some thoughts on the signing:

This should be it for the wide receiver room:
The Raiders signed Buffalo Bills’ receiver John Brown to replace Nelson Agholor, who signed with the New England Patriots, they re-signed Zay Jones and now they have added Snead. They will join second-year receivers Henry Ruggs II and Bryan Edwards and slot receiver Hunter Renfrow. This should be the six-player receiver group.

Added competition:
Snead, a seventh-season player, had 33 catches for the Ravens last season. He had a career-high 72 catches for the New Orleans Saints in 2016. He is a professional receiver and he deepens the group. He should be at the low end of the rotation and. There will be competition for snaps (especially between Snead and Renfrow at the slot) and targets between all of these players. There is only one ball. So, it will be interesting to see how the training camp competition goes and who actually is on the field during the season.

Insurance for the rookies:
If Ruggs and Edwards struggled with injuries and production, as they did as rookies, the Raiders have more receivers to take over. In any case, I’m not sure this group will be dynamic, but at least they have veteran experience.
