MLB news roundup
Happy Wednesday, Athletics Nation!
The A’s gave up a 2-1 lead in the sixth last night and dropped a second straight to St. Louis. That loss clinched the series for the Cards and ended the A’s series win streak at three. Hopefully a sweep will be averted today.
AN’s Garrett Spain continues his terrific coverage of A’s prospects and minor league affiliates. Check out yesterday’s latest installment, which highlights Texas League Pitcher of the Week Ryan Cusick.
Every action causes a reaction, which in turn creates another ripple in the proverbial pond. Connor Letourneau at the San Francisco Chronicle illustrated this phenomenon in the context of the A’s leaving Oakland and the stadium workers that will be left behind in the wake of this impending exodus.
The A’s made two especially noteworthy additions to their broadcast team this year: they hired Jenny Cavnar as the first female MLB play-by-play announcer, and they brought aboard Chris Caray, great-grandson of legendary Cubs announcer Harry Caray. John Shea at the San Francisco Chronicle has details on Monday night’s game, which brought Chris together at the coliseum with his father Chip Caray, who calls games for the Cardinals. Together with Harry’s son Skip, the Carays represent a four-generation family of baseball broadcasters.
Pretty Caray-zay!

Best of X:
I’d love to be in on this gathering.
Fun scene in the A’s clubhouse. Lawrence Butler, Zack Gelof, Darell Hernaiz and JJ Bleday sitting around Rickey Henderson talking baseball. So good.
