MLB news roundup
Happy Wednesday, Athletics Nation!
The A’s got pummeled by the Rangers yesterday as starting pitcher Rod Stripling failed to build on the success of his last appearance, for which he was credited with his first win since 2022. On a positive note, newly called up reliever Tyler Ferguson made his MLB debut and was the only A’s pitcher the Rangers failed to score against yesterday. Kris Willis has details on Ferguson’s promotion and the A’s recent flurry of roster moves.
A’s second ranked prospect Luis Morales finally made his season debut this week. As is often the case with young flamethrowers, Morales showed that he has stuff galore but needs better command. Garrett Spain has an assessment on Morales and much more in his latest prospects report.
Too many Athletics have been getting banged up over the past week. Just yesterday, Darell Hernaiz exited the game with an apparent ankle sprain.
Darell Hernaiz is going for an MRI. Kotsay said he’s pretty certain it’s a left ankle sprain but A’s will know more tomorrow.

Hopefully we’ll get encouraging news from Hernaiz’s MRI results today. Martin Gallegos at MLB.com has an injury update on the A’s website.
Little as I like to think about the A’s impending move, it is still in the works. Mick Ackers at the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported yesterday that the master plan for the A’s new ballpark at the Tropicana resort site has yet to be completed, and that Bally’s Chairman Soo Kim is open to a partnership to expedite the project.
We may not be able to watch the A’s in Oakland next year, but we should be able to watch the B’s. Justice Delos Santos at the Mercury News has details on the newly announced partnership with CBS Bay Area to broadcast the team’s Friday night home games.
Speaking of Friday nights, it looks like I’ll be heading north for my last A’s game at the Coliseum on July 19th. I’m hoping to see Mason Miller pitch and Brent Rooker hit one out. See you there!

Hot corner memorial.
Noticed A’s 3B Brett Harris writes something in the dirt before a game. He told me it’s for three people close to him who have since passed: Mama T who was like another mom to him, a good friend KJ1 and his former coach, Ocho. He says he wishes they were still here pic.twitter.com/cPv3rMWzZ4
