Springs makes his Sacramento Debut
After heading “home” playing .500 ball in Seattle, the Athletics have dropped the first two to the visiting Chicago Cubs. But Kotsay and his Athletics will be battling to get back in the win column this afternoon at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento. The A’s will send 32-year-old lefty Jeffrey Springs to the mound. Springs first start was all the team hoped for, going six shutout innings and striking out nine Mariners while allowing only three hits and one walk. It will be interesting to see how his stuff plays in the new ballpark, which so far seems to be favoring the hitters. How it plays during the first day game remains to be seen.
The Athletics will face 33-year-old right hander Jameson Taillon. Taillon got roughed up during his first outing, giving up nine hits and six earned runs in 4.1 innings at Arizona on March 28.
Taillon will face an A’s lineup that looks like this today in Sacramento:
Springs will face a dangerous Cubs lineup that has scored twenty-five runs in the first two games of the series. Cubs skipper Craig Counsell will play this lineup today against Springs and the A’s:
