Back-to-back wins in store for the good guys?
The A’s are riding high after yesterday’s close 6-5 win over the Royals. They’ll now try to make it two in a row against Kansas City as the team goes for its 28th win of the year.
Left-hander Jacob Lopez will take to the mound for his ninth appearance in an A’s uniform. The club teamed him up with lefty Sean Newcomb in his last appearance, starting Lopez for the first four innings before making way for Newcomb to clean it up. It worked beautifully as the pair of lefties combined for 7 innings of clean baseball (outside of one unearned run) and helped the A’s win their first series since May. The team will likely go with the same format today (unless Lopez is absolutely dealing), and would love more of the same today in their afternoon tilt against the Royals.

Fairly standard lineup today with all the regulars in there against the Royals, and at their primary positions. The lone change is behind the plate, where Willie MacIver will take over while Austin Wynns takes a day off after catching all nine frames from last night. Looking like a back-and-forth situation between these two while Shea Langeliers is out.
Kansas City will march out right-hander Michael Lorenzen. He’s been a solid starter for the Royals this year but has gotten hit hard in a couple recent starts. Let’s hope the A’s can make some magic in their first outing against the veteran right.
