Rise and shine for some morning baseball!
Wake up everyone! For most of us we’re still rolling out of bed after getting to sleep in this fine Saturday. The Athletics however are in New York and have been awake for a while, preparing to take on the Yankees for the second of three hoping to even the series. High stakes for a morning contest.
The A’s will hope left-handed JP Sears can right both his season and the A’s fortunes. Sears has fallen on hard times to say the least, but he can start to put all of that behind him this morning with a strong start against the team that traded him to the Athletics years ago. He’s struggled in six starts against the Yankees in his career with a 5.74 ERA.

All the regular lineups in there this morning as the A’s try to get on the board in their series with a win under their belt. They’ll have a tough task ahead of them with an ace on the hill for their opponent.
For the Yanks’, right-hander Clarke Schmidt will take to the mound for his 13th start of the season. Now in his sixth season in the bigs, Schmidt has been terrific for the Yankees, helping to mitigate the loss of righties Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil by posting a 2.84 ERA, which is impressive but still only second-best in the New York starting rotation. The 29-year-old could give the A’s hitters fits this morning if he brings his best stuff.

No off days for any of the Yankees bats either. Iron sharpens iron.
Time to even this series up. Let’s go A’s!
