Happy Fourth!
The A’s don’t take holidays off! The club is set to welcome the San Francisco Giants to West Sacramento for the first time, ready to get some revenge on their former cross-bay rivals.
The A’s will go with lefty JP Sears for the series opener. He bounced back to deliver a quality outing last time out, firing off 5 2⁄3 inninhs of shutout baseball. The A’s would welcome that tonight in their series opener.
The starting nine:

The return of Gelof! The Athletics’ starting second baseman returns to the team and slides right back into the lineup at his usual spot. He’ll hit eighth in his reintegration into the A’s with high expectations awaiting. The rest of the regulars are in there to kick off their series with the Giants.
The Giants will go with future Hall-of-Famer Justin Verlander to kick things off. He has just a 4.26 ERA over his first 13 games in San Fran, still looking for some big career milestones.
