Take a mulligan on yesterday’s loss
The Oakland A’s and Texas Rangers open a weekend series today, and — what’s that? They played last night? And the A’s made a ton of errors and lost? I’d already forgotten about that, but I’ll take your word for it.
Let’s give them a mulligan on that whoopsie of a game, especially since it was preceded by seven straight thrilling victories. The A’s will try again in Arlington on Saturday, with James Kaprielian taking the mound against the Rangers for the fifth time this year. Three of those ended up being quality efforts and the fourth was close enough, and overall he’s allowed nine runs in 23 innings for a 3.52 ERA against Texas.
In Oakland’s lineup, shortstop Elvis Andrus is out on paternity leave, so they called up fellow infielder Vimael Machin to take his spot.
