Whatever
The Oakland A’s game last night was overshadowed by a serious injury to pitcher Chris Bassitt. It’s still tough to focus on baseball, but the show must go on and there’s a new game Wednesday night.
The A’s called up a new pitcher to make the start tonight, which will push back the rest of the rotation by one extra day. Paul Blackburn arrives from Triple-A Las Vegas to make his first MLB appearance of the year, and this will mark the fifth straight season he’s pitched in the majors for Oakland.
After a solid 2017 rookie performance, Blackburn hasn’t found any success in the bigs the last few years. But this evening brings a fresh slate and a new chance, so let’s see what he can do against a tough Chicago White Sox lineup. Every inning he can provide will be helpful, since the bullpen put in a lot of work last night including three frames from long man Burch Smith.
