Snap that skid!
The Oakland A’s are on a four-game losing streak, and they’re running out of time to climb back into the postseason race. On Wednesday they continue their matchup against the Chicago White Sox at the Coliseum, after dropping the series opener last night.
Can Frankie Montas play the role of Stopper again? He’s the hottest arm in the rotation, with quality starts in nine of his last 10 outings and a 2.27 ERA during that span. In late-August he shut down the Yankees to help Oakland snap a six-game skid, and the A’s could use another clutch performance this evening.
The right-hander can also help with his longevity, as the bullpen has seen heavy use lately and could stand to avoid another long night. Montas worked into the 7th inning in each of his last three appearances, and averaged more than six frames per start in his last 10 games. The A’s called up a new reliever today, right-hander Miguel Romero, who ranks No. 26 on our Community Prospect List.
Oakland faced White Sox starter Dallas Keuchel last month, and scored two runs off him in five innings including a homer by Matt Chapman. Tonight the A’s have Khris Davis in the starting lineup!
