Derby Appearance Makes a Dream a Reality
A’s Nation- Rooker Joins Home Run Derby
Today Major League Baseball (MLB) announced that A’s fan favorite, and two-time All-Star Brent Rooker will compete in the Home Run Derby prior to this year’s All-Star Game. The derby, which takes place Monday, July 14, at 5 PM Pacific Time (8 PM Eastern) is the annual showcase of some of the best and most prolific power-hitters in the league.
Rook is currently tied for eighth in the American League with nineteen homers with four games left before the break.
The full field has not been announced yet, but as of now, Rooker will join Cal Raleigh, James Wood, Byron Buxton, and Ronald Acuña Jr in the competition. He’s the first player to represent the A’s since Matt Olson in 2021 and hopes to become the third player in Green and Gold to win. That list includes Mark McGwire and Yoenis Céspedes who has won it twice.
