Robbie Ray vs. Edward Cabrera.
After a disappointing sweep at the hands of the Detroit Tigers earlier this week, the San Francisco Giants bounced back by taking their series opener against the Miami Marlins on Friday night. And now they get a chance to take the series with a win this afternoon.
Tasked with the job is lefty Robbie Ray, who has been sensational in 11 starts this year. The southpaw is an MLB-best 7-0 on the year, with a 2.56 ERA, a 3.20 FIP, and 69 strikeouts to 27 walks in 63.1 innings. Nice. In his last two starts, the former Cy Young winner has allowed just one run in 13 innings.
He’s up against Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera, who makes his ninth start of the season. Cabrera, a 27-year old in his fifth season is 1-1 on the year with a 4.73 ERA, a 4.15 FIP, and 43 strikeouts against 16 walks in 40 innings. He was excellent his last time out, throwing 5.2 shutout innings against the Angels and striking out 10 batters.
Enjoy the game, everyone! Go Giants! Happy Saturday!
