Logan Webb vs. Germán Márquez.
It’s time for the series finale between the San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies. After losing the series opener in dramatically ugly fashion, the Giants have bounced back and won the next two games, and have a chance to win the four-game series this afternoon … splitting a series against such a dismal team would be quite a disappointment.
Thankfully, the Giants are sending their ace to the mound, as Logan Webb will make his eighth start of the year. Webb is having a sensational season, with a 3-2 record, a 2.83 ERA, a 1.75 FIP, and 50 strikeouts against 11 walks in 41.1 innings. He leads the Majors in both starts and FIP. His last game out, however, was his worst outing of the year, as he gave up five runs in as many innings against the San Diego Padres.
For the Rockies, it’s a pitcher the Giants are very familiar with: righty Germán Márquez, who is in his 10th season, all with Colorado. Márquez is having a dismal year: in six starts he’s 0-5 with a 9.82 ERA, a 4.54 FIP, and just 15 strikeouts against 12 walks in 25.2 innings.
Enjoy the game! Go Giants!
