It’s time for the series finale between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers. After an inspiring win on Friday and a blowout loss on Saturday, the Giants will look to take the series this afternoon, and take back a share of first place in the NL West.
For the Giants, southpaw Kyle Harrison was traded just before first pitch, thrusting Sean Hjelle into an opener role. will make a final audition to keep his rotation spot when Justin Verlander returns next week. In eight games this year, including four starts, Harrison is 1-1 with a 4.56 ERA, a 4.30 FIP, and 25 strikeouts to nine walks in 23.2 innings. He gave up three runs in five innings at Coors Field in his last start.
On the other side is righty Dustin May, who has struggled to find his form in 12 starts after missing last year to Tommy John. The 27-year old is 3-4 with a 4.46 ERA, a 4.11 FIP, and 64 strikeouts to 26 walks in 66.2 innings. He gave up five runs in as many innings against the San Diego Padres his last time out.
