Landen Roupp vs. Davis Daniel.
The San Francisco Giants are desperately looking to stop the bleeding. After an embarrassing 9-4 loss against the Atlanta Braves on Monday, which moved their losing streak to a season-worst six games, the Giants will try to even the series tonight. And they’re getting perhaps a small boost, as Rafael Devers will be making his first base debut. They’re also getting some bullpen reinforcements, as Sean Hjelle and Carson Seymour have been recalled, while Hayden Birdsong and Tristan Beck were optioned.
The Giants have had relatively poor outings from all four of their starting pitchers who have taken the mound since the All-Star break, and righty Landen Roupp will try to put a halt to that tonight. In 19 starts this year, Roupp is 6-6 with a 3.27 ERA, a 3.66 FIP, and 89 strikeouts to 41 walks in 96.1 innings. He was excellent in his last start, allowing just one earned run in six innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He’s up against righty Davis Daniel, who takes the mound for just the third time this year, and just his second start. The 28-year old has appeared in just 11 games over his three-year career, and has a 4.72 ERA, a 4.27 FIP, and 43 strikeouts against 18 walks in 47.2 innings. He’s allowed one run in five innings this season.
