
Carson Whisenhunt vs. Mitch Keller
The San Francisco Giants welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates to Oracle Park tonight to begin a three-game series.
Taking the mound for the Giants, making his major league debut, will be left-hander Carson Whisenhunt. Whisenhunt has pitched for the Giants’ Triple-A Sacramento affiliate this season, in which he posted a 4.42 ERA, with 86 strikeouts to 28 walks in 97.2 innings pitched. His last start for Sacramento was on July 20th against the Oklahoma City Comets, in which he allowed one run on five hits with four strikeouts in three and two thirds innings.
He’ll be facing off against Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller, who enters today’s game with a 3.53 ERA, 3.42 FIP, with 97 strikeouts to 30 walks in 125 innings pitched. His last start was in the Pirates’ 8-5 win over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday, in which he allowed three runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks in six innings.
