Logan Webb vs. Corbin Burnes
After taking three of four from Arizona, the Giants move on to face a real competitor in the form of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers are sitting at first place in the NL Central race, and are matched with the Dodgers for the second best team in the National League at the moment. So this should probably be a bit more of a challenge than the Diamondbacks, (not that they didn’t make it interesting at times), and possibly a preview of important games to come.
Buster Posey is back after a day off, batting third, with Brandon Crawford moving into the clean-up slot and Kris Bryant moving back to third base. This is a lineup that could easily do some damage if they can get their bats going against Corbin Burnes, who enters tonight’s game with a 2.46 ERA, 1.49 FIP and 152 strikeouts to 20 walks in 106 innings pitched. He’s coming off of a bit of a rough start against Atlanta where he gave up five runs in four innings, but has otherwise been very strong over the last month.
On the mound for the Giants will be Logan Webb, who is on a bit of a winning streak himself, and hasn’t pitched in a game that the Giants lost since May 5th. Webb enters tonight’s game with a 3.33 ERA, 3.34 FIP, and 73 strikeouts to 23 walks in 73 innings pitched.
This should be a fun one!
