Cobb suffered a slight setback in his recovery this week, but it doesn’t seem like it will push back his timetable too much.
Good morning, baseball fans!
The San Francisco Giants are awaiting the return of Alex Cobb, who underwent hip surgery after the 2023 season. Although he was initially optimistic about his recovery schedule, the Giants have been very careful not to push him or let him push himself.
It was initially expected that he would return around or before the All Star break, although he had said that he hoped it would be sooner. However, he’s dealt with a couple of setbacks recently.
Just yesterday, John Shea of The San Francisco Chronicle reported that he was dealing with “mild shoulder irritation” and that he would Dr. Ken Akizuki, a local orthopedic surgeon, last night. As of the time this is being written, there have been no updates. However, when reporting the same news, NBC Sports Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic noted that Cobb said his arm was just “cranky” and Pavlovic notes that this won’t affect his timetable much.
As of right now, Cobb is still only on the 15-day injured list.
What time do the Giants play today?
The Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks continue this four-game series tonight at 7:15 p.m. PT.
