At long last, it’s Giants vs. Dodgers in the postseason.
The San Francisco Giants play baseball today. Specifically, they play the first game of the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers. You can catch the action at 6:37 p.m. PT on TBS.
It’s an exciting day. It’s a terrifying day.
I feel so many intense emotions about today, and I’m writing this eight hours before today even arrives.
Even though it’s just the first game of the postseason, I’m flooded with memories of where I was when prior Giants postseason runs ended: at a Coffee Bean in Torrance in 2016, closing my laptop, long since resigned to the outcome; in my old apartment in Hollywood in 2014, literally biting a hole in my couch cushion as Madison Bumgarner stared down Salvador Perez; in my parents’ living room in 2012 with my dad, only telling my stressed-out mom to look when things felt in control; at the student center in college in 2010, hugging the only other Giants fan I could find; in the back seat of my parents’ van in 2002, crying the three hour drive home from the airport as the radio drifted out in the background.
The series, and the season will end in ecstasy or heartbreak; there can be no in between, especially in a season this magical.
But before that conclusion can be reached, baseball must be played. Enjoy.
