Do I think he’s likely to get in? I don’t know. Will I be rooting for him anyway? Absolutely.
Good morning, baseball fans! The Los Angeles Dodgers lost yesterday while the San Francisco Giants had a day off, so they’ve grown their division lead to 2.5 games. Not bad for a day off!
It was also announced yesterday that Tim Lincecum will be eligible for the Hall of Fame ballot next year. And if that didn’t make your head spin, I envy you. It’s hard to believe that it’s been that long since Lincecum pitched, but it has.
Here is a list of players who are eligible for Hall of Fame voting in 2022 ️

Lincecum’s last start for the Giants was in June of 2015, where he was pulled early after taking a come-backer to the arm. He never pitched again that season, after undergoing hip surgery and the Giants parted ways with him after that. Lincecum had a brief return to the majors, pitching for the Los Angeles Angels, but it didn’t go well. And his even more brief stint in the Texas Rangers’ minors system never resulted in Lincecum pitching for the Rangers.
There are many reasons why Lincecum is unlikely to be voted in, despite being pretty universally beloved among baseball fans and writers alike. His career was remarkable, racking up Cy Young Awards, All Star appearances, World Series rings, and no-hitters. But it burned a little too bright, too soon to warrant a spot. That said, like always, I’ll be rooting for him regardless.
Also on the ballot is another former Giant, Jake Peavy. Though Peavy didn’t officially announce his retirement until 2019, his last season was 2016 with the Giants.
