No National League reliever received more All-Star Game votes from his peers than Giants right Randy Rodríguez.
MLB released the final player vote tallies for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game after announcing the pitching staffs and benches for the National and American League squads. While the San Francisco Giants had three All-Star selections, right-handed reliever Randy Rodríguez was the lone Giant to finish with the most votes at his position.
Rodríguez received 143 votes, significantly more than Mets closer Edwin Diaz (102), and Padres righty Jason Adam (90), who finished in second and third place, respectively. Given how many elite relievers there are in the game, the relief pitcher vote was the most split category. Rodríguez received the lowest tally of votes among a top vote-getter at any position. Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte, for example, received 653 votes. Still, it’s a huge compliment to Rodríguez that he was singled out more than many more proven and well-known relievers in the National League.

Rodríguez, who signed with the Giants as a teenager back in 2017, was one of the organization’s top relief-pitching prospects for several years before making his big-league debut in 2024. Despite an erratic rookie campaign, Rodríguez flashed his dominant potential. Since the start of this season, Rodríguez has gained manager Bob Melvin’s trust more and more. While other veterans have struggled, Rodríguez has a 0.71 ERA (1.35 FIP) with 53 strikeouts and just 8 walks in 38 innings pitched (38 appearances).
