Dubón returns to AAA Sacramento, while Quintana has been reinstated off of the Paternity List.
The San Francisco Giants made a move prior to their series opener against the San Diego Padres on Monday, optioning utility player Mauricio Dubón to AAA Sacramento, and welcoming back left-handed pitcher José Quintana from the Paternity List (congratulations, again, to the Quintana family!)

The move is timely, as the Giants are opening the series with a bullpen game. Quintana has been exceptional out of the pen for the Giants, pitching 6 innings and allowing 2 hits, 4 walks, and 1 earned run, with 10 strikeouts. A starter for most of his career, including earlier this season with the Los Angeles Angels, Quintana should have the arm strength to stretch it out if the Giants need an inning eater today, or later in the series.
As for Dubón, he was solid in his return to the Majors, hitting 5-17 with 2 doubles and a walk, good for a .745 OPS with very strong defense. But with Wilmer Flores returning from the Injured List over the weekend, and Donovan Solano starting his rehab assignment, it’s going to take some injuries for Dubi to make it back to San Francisco this season.
