Good morning, baseball fans!
We’ve reached another weekend of San Francisco Giants baseball. Which means it’s time to start looking back at the week that was and today we’re going to figure out who our picks are for Player of the Week.
This week, I’m going with Logan Webb. Technically his second to last start was the night before we did last week’s discussion on the topic, but since I have to pre-write these I’m including both his start against the Los Angeles Angels and his start against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Let’s start with the former. The man deserved better. He came out there and gave his team six innings of two-run ball (only one earned) and struck out 12 in the process. What did he get from his offense in return? A shutout loss. Truly, a start worthy of a Matt Cain comparison.
Then on Wednesday of this week, he pitched six and a third scoreless innings, allowing six hits and three walks and striking out six in the Giants’ 4-2 win over the Brewers. Finally, some run support!
Mind you, I know that Webb is always good. So this might feel like low-hanging fruit. But I felt like he was owed something after the loss to the Angels. So that’s my pick.
Who do you think was the Player of the Week?
