He’s almost back!
The San Francisco Giants have been hit with a bucketful of injuries lately, most recently on Wednesday, when designated hitter Jorge Soler was placed on the 10-Day Injured List, leading the team to call up outfielder Heliot Ramos. But in addition to the news of players lost, we’re starting to get news of players returning.
On Wednesday, manager Bob Melvin revealed that left-handed pitcher Blake Snell will pitch a bullpen on Thursday. Even more importantly, Snell is schedule to make a rehab start for the Low-A San Jose Giants on Sunday.
The Giants are, understandably, shying away from revealing a target date for Snell’s return. But if that rehab start goes well, Snell could potentially be in line to return when his spot in the rotation comes up on Friday, May 17, when the Giants host the Colorado Rockies. Snell missed Spring Training, and opened the year on the roster, so if he does indeed play on Sunday, it will be his first game with the Giants that isn’t a regular-season outing with the MLB team.
Until then, we’ll get to watch at least one more Mason Black start, which is definitely very exciting.
What time do the Giants play today?
The Giants will go for the sweep this afternoon at Coors Field, when they play the Rockies at 12:10 p.m. PT.
