We’re a month into the season, how are you feeling, Giants fans?
Good morning, baseball fans!
We are officially one month into the San Francisco Giants season, and with today being a rare homestead off day, I thought it would be a good time for us to do a temp check into how everyone is feeling about the 2024 season so far.
For me, it’s still early enough in the season that I’m not going to freak out over anything. But with a month of games under their belt, the team is sitting two games under .500 and in fourth place in the National League West. Which is not ideal.
That said, there have definitely been a few standout players so far. Logan Webb continues to be a dominant starter, and Jordan Hicks has also been a surprising bright spot for this season so far. Jung Hoo Lee has been just as fun to watch as I hoped for going into the season. And the offensive improvement of Michael Conforto over last season has also been a treat.
The problem has been consistency. It feels like a very all-or-nothing team. Either everything’s working, or nothing is. With the upcoming additions of Alex Cobb and Robbie Ray, and presumably Blake Snell getting right, this could be a very formidable rotation in the near future. But they need to tread water a little better in the meantime than they have been.
How are you all feeling so far?
What time do the Giants play today?
They do not. Tomorrow, they will welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates to Oracle Park to begin a three-game series.
