We have reached the conclusion of our favorite player series. Although the decade is only half-way through, that’s more than enough time to pick a favorite so far.
Good morning, baseball fans!
Today, we’re wrapping up our series where we pick a favorite San Francisco Giants player over the decades. Which means we have arrived at the terrible 2020s.
This one is interesting, because you still have a handful of players from the championship era wrapping up their careers, and a plethora of young players getting started.
I think the obvious answer for this one is Logan Webb. He debuted in 2019 and has gone on to become the ace of a rotation that has not been super consistent aside from him. He definitely picked up the role of work-horse from Madison Bumgarner when he left.
Personally, my favorite player of the 2020s is Mike Yastrzemski. I couldn’t tell you exactly why he’s my favorite, he’s just a good dude and I like him and root for his success. After Brandon Belt left, I had to pick a new favorite player and he won. I like his approach to the game, his openness about his struggles and his work to improve.
Who is your favorite Giants player from the 2020’?
